The Welfare Council’s Culture Board allocates grant to student associations. Individuals and various projects can also apply for grant. New organizations and activities can receive specific funding for their startups. Each year the Culture Board receives almost 300 applications and delegates around 3 million kroner in grant funding. This funding comes from the semester fee students pay.

Student associations applying for grants must have their own statute that is approved by their general assembly. The statute must also include detailed information about the purpose of the association.  Associations at UiO and OsloMet must be registered at Registration regulation for Student Associations
